The best way to get an internship is to go NOW- firms are always looking for interns for tax season. That's how I started- as a tax intern. Look for any job fairs or such events at your school- that's how our firm recruits. Otherwise, you can call a few larger firms in your area and ask if they accept applications for tax-season interns. Good luck!

First, it depends on what you want to work in - tax, assurance or advisory. Second, below mostly applies to assurance practices. - Big Four choice > You may have missed the time when those giants recruit interns (usually in the fall before the summer you want an internship for). But you can always double check by contacting offices of those companies in your area. - Smaller companies >> (a) Search online for your area and then contact them directly. (b) Contact your CPA society and they should be able to provide some guidance / list. (c) Register on linkedin.com and search for what you need there as well (I get tons of linkedin.com messages about open positions, etc. there). Good luck!
